Daniel K. Longman is a social and family historian who has written numerous books exploring Merseyside's history. His books specialise in the darker side of the past with many of his publications focusing on aged criminality and the macabre. More recently Longman has delved into Merseyside's pictorial past and has produced several local publications in a photographic 'then and now' style.' Born in 1988, Longman was brought up in Birkenhead, Wirral and attended St Werburgh's R.C Primary School and later St John Plessington High School in Bebington. His interest in history was largely inspired by the popular Horrible Histories series created by children's author Terry Deary, who Longman credits as a major inspiration.〔High, Chris.
